About Me:
I like to think of myself as more of a nerd than a geek, though I guess there isn't really a difference. Most of all, though, I'm an autodidact -- a self-learner. That's pretty much what I do full-time now, since I'm taking a year off before college. Eventually I want to learn everything there is to learn! (And then launch my plan for world domination? Maybe.)
I'm also interested in promoting autodidactism and free education. I've found so many amazing resources online, so to give back to the community and motivate myself at the same time, I'm teaching everything I learn and sharing everything I find on my blog(s) here: LearningNerd.com. Interests:
Everything. Sure, I'm more interested in some things than others, but I believe that anything can be interesting. The more you learn about something, the more interesting it gets. Every subject overlaps with another, after all. So I'm most interested in how seemingly unrelated subjects overlap.
But to be more specific, here are a few things that I'm currently interested in: writing, languages, photography, art, web design, video games (especially MMORPGs), music, juggling, dance, DDR, and almost anything to do with the internet, especially if it's free. ;) Books:
I never really liked reading, though I love writing. After being forced to read so much in high school, I guess you could say I'm taking a break from reading books for a while. That said, I can still enjoy a good book. Here are a couple I enjoyed in school: Crime and Punishment, Siddhartha, some of Shakespeare's plays, and some other books that I can't remember the names of... Oh, and of course I enjoyed the first half of Eats, Shoots & Leaves, which I read by choice.
People I look up to:
I don't like role models.
Geeky Habits:
I play DDR almost every single day. (Hey, it's good exercise! Wait, that makes me sound even more geeky... Oh well.)
I have a tendency to get addicted to MMORPGs and play them almost non-stop for days at a time. I try not to correct people's grammar and spelling, but sometimes it bothers me so much that I can't help myself! I'm sure there's a lot more. Zakbook:
