The meaning of life: simple and complex ideas, fears, habits, and behaviors that will affect an individual (physically, mentally, and spiritually) over a time line.
When all is said and done, where you stand today is where life has brought you. Life will never have a straight forward meaning.
Time defines life, meaning every moment has a different meaning than the one before.

The problem with the chat is that it pulls the data from a file called: rss.php (located @ http://www.shuzak.com/Chat/rss.php)

Well I mean it in the way that consensual sex also needs to have love.
Evil - Posted By joshua hatfield - Karma received: 0 |

I wanted to reply to this subject a long time ago. But I've decided to finally post this due to recent events.
Nothing is wrong with sex outside of marraige. If I could elaborate on that, true love is the only thing needed. Two people much share equal values on love. If they don't then it would be wrong to. And pornography is just meaningless sex on film.
Do I define my morals on religion? No, not at all. Why do I define it how I do?
Because I used to be the guy that would try to get some when I was in high school. I had the love of my life in 10th grade I thought then when that ended, I found a girl I could throw around and get what I wanted. And I kept feeding her bullshit time after time and after three months it came down to a big problem. I lost a lot of friends over the whole situation.
Chicks dig a guy with a broken heart and I was using it to get what I wanted.
And that whole experience made me realize women are not meant to be thrown around. Sexual promiscuity is for dull minds.

You are not much of a terrorist. In fact, you really like the state. You probably dislike personal responsibility and have a strong distrust of other people to do the right thing. You think freedom should only be given by the state to people who agree with the state.

How is your relationship with your parents?
My parents have a decent relationship with me. I used to negate their thoughts lot of my choices. It's very steady now that I've moved out.
how were your school years? or how ARE your school years?
Elementary school is severely missed. Not worrying about anything. My parents and I got along well. My bi-polar during the middle school years was the worst. My parents severely disliked me. In high school my parents were most helpful in every situation.
Any tips you'd like to share about how to stay friends with your parents while still doing what you want?

Here's an example setup.
Basically the incoming cable modem from the ISP will plug into the uplink of a hub (or router).
There will be anywhere between 4 - 8 outputs. You would put one output leading to your computer, and then another leading to your moms.
You'll need a hub and 3 ethernet cables.
I bought my current router for $20 at Walmart. Ethernet cables will run anywhere between $5 - $25 depending on length. Just look around and you'll eventually find a good deal on this setup.

Which ISP do you have? The involvement of an ISP would be to find out the IP addresses of the DNS servers. It does not cost money to ask them for that information.
Don't even worry about this now, but
DNS servers can be found without even talking to support by going to (in Windows XP): Start > Run > type "cmd" > Press Enter > type "ipconfig /all".

Hubs and routers are not the same but in your case a hub would be the better choice.
1.) Hubs are usually the cheaper of the two.
2.) Routers are basically configurable hubs.
And yes that's why you would need 3 ethernet cables.

Ahh, someone like me. Makes me feel the least bit normal.
Valerio: don't waste time arguing what will be the better choice, in this case the rule that work better is "do, then think".
As of last night I had begun that. I noticed an awkwardness between some close friends because I kept talking about the possible results. And I noticed my overall mood was depressed so I have been just living it up until this big change.
ATB: Its only until recently that I realized I'm only hiding behind those hobbies and that once I step back into the real world, all the pain and misery comes back.
I have also recently realized I'm hiding from reality. I realize my choices are my problems more than ever at this moment.
Ati: a bit of distraction can be a good thing to stave off depression.
I started this Saturday. I've been out enjoying what I can. Days are going by faster this way. Once most of this is over, I can live out those long days once again, but for now it's better to have those distractions every day.

What are defines a geek?
Wikipedia says: A geek is an individual who is fascinated by knowledge and imagination, usually electronic or virtual in nature.
What makes a community?
Wikipedia says: A community usually refers to a sociological group in a large place.
Combining them defines Shuzak.
A group of sociological individuals who are fascinated by knowledge and imagination.
-----
Now in all honesty, Shuzak's traffic decrease is noticable.
Usually geeks tend to enjoy only one thing in common and that is imagination. Making a visual of that concept would continue forever.
And then you get every geek wanting to share their favorite geek hobby.
There are many unnoticed topics still sitting in the trash bin, just waiting for us to discover it.
It's time to search, find, discover, learn, then move on. That is the perfect way to make Shuzak more active. Not creating new topic after new topic (which I am guilty of).

My advice is to get a nice, healthy obsession. Baseballs card, nanotechnology, building a rocket in your back yard, writing a novel, programming a videogame, I don't care.
Just so long as keeps your mind from dwelling too long on your problems.
I have many healthy obsessions. Music, skateboarding, guitar, etc. But when life has been my number one obsession (interest) for a long time that's all I can think about.
You can't predict the results of every action you take - do your best, and try to make the most of it with the decisions you can control.
Which is the current predicament I'm in now. I predicted this apartment would turn out great. Now I'm in over my head. This is honestly the worst decision of my life.
Your life began when you were born. Attempting to draw an arbitrary line and say 'life will being when I move out', or 'life will begin when I get the job' will simply prevent you from appreciating everything before then.
I do appreciate my past. Life is everything to me. I guess I meant "When does your true 'happy life' begin?"
IT depends on whether you want to start over, and the effects that would have on those around you.
Really the only people that would be affected would be my family, my few friends, my best friend going with me, and myself. And then all the people I meet in the future. This may be a permanent thing, but if I get closer and closer to the west coast, there are many jobs out there that mix my hobby and skill (Web 2.0 and social networking).
I'm afriad I can't help you with your legal problems, as it's not my area of expertise. Maybe try talking to a lawyer.
I am already on that. But if any one else does have an opinion please share.

I have noticed that geeks sometimes don't know how to act around women - they either get all nervous or monopolize the conversation, not cool.

There is no need to leave the thread. I do understand the problems with guests posting, but there are ways to help moderate that kind of thing a lot easier.
Understand, guests are as much as a part of the community than anyone. Anyone who visits a site or service is a potential user or referrer. I've sent several threads to people that aren't registered and they enjoy the content.
I see it as this. If a guest was to see the content itself, they would eventually want to have a status within that subject.
I specifically browsed the site to begin, because startups and social sites interest me. I realized Shuzak has a megaton of intelligent potential, so I signed up to actually have a member status of an overall great community.
PS: This thread began as an idea and developed into a discussion/debate and that's what I believe most users love about Shuzak.

Guests should be able to read Shuzak articles and get a good feel for Shuzak features. Nothing drives me away from a community or service than no concept of features or the overall community culture.
Shuzak's about page clearly states:
Finally, as a visitor of this network, you are our most important critic and commentator.
Most importantly though, if Shuzak is a social network, your argument is basically stating outsiders should be prevented from 'leeching' any information. Sharing is one of the most important elements of any social network. On Shuzak so far, I have seen people share the following:
Ideas, feelings, concepts, recommendations, etc.
I feel anyone should be able to be a part of Shuzak. It would be selfish for one to think other than that.

Shuzak is a place to share ideas and have open discussion.
Personally, as a web developer I dislike the need (or feeling) to sign up to sites before I can read code snippets (ideas). I also like sites that give you a preview of what's going on.
That's what this would be going for, and some realized Shuzak is lacking that.

You are in one of the planets in one of the solar systems in one of the galaxies in the universe. You are not the only person, we are not the only beings. Look beyond, it sounds weird, but you must admit, the possible cover up of alien existence is surreal. There have been many things governments have disclosed within our world, so why can they not disclose inter-world information?
It's incredible to think about where aliens may be inhabiting, so I am more into the technology they may withhold.

We bought 90 altogether. I drank about 6-8 (I got a small tolerance) of them. Along with making green beer in a Kool-Aid container, we had Crown.
For about the first hour of drinking, we had a air soft gun fight. After that we were pretty much almost drunk by then. That didn't stop us from sitting down and shooting people. We watched the Boondock Saints for the 3rd time and Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny for the 10th time. It was a good weekend.
I think I'm good for a month after that.

I think what I hate about shuzak is the use of colors. Maybe a choosable color scheme. It shouldn't be hard if everything uses CSS.
When you get private zaks, that color (#CCFFCC) isn't to my liking... But it still works...

This dream was probably the most weirdest dream I ever had. I dreamnt I was in some mountainous region and my friends and I were on a trip their to canoe.
We went and were walking around this jungle area. Clay mines starting exploding or something then I started running. I was looking back while running and then fell off a cliff and I woke up to falling off a bunk bed.
I've also had a ton of weird dreams involving war and apocalyptic times.

Hey the karma thing was my fault from the who likes porn thread and I was testing possible holes in the ajax. It was a javascript piece that I had been trying to test, because over time people would abuse this. I didn't notice it was actually doing anything at the time, but then I just forgot it was running and passed out. I woke up to Karma for everyone from that thread being very high.
It was very visible for any advanced javascript user (we're geeks there's gonna be some of them people) and it's the same kind of script that will alter comments on sites like Digg (but they have fixed theirs).
I've already messaged Jawad about it and I also messaged him the script I used. Hopefully he finds this fix.

Yeah, there have to be records of Karma given to me and karma given from me in the database. Hopefully Jawad can just delete my SQL records set from 11pm to 8am.
I would have turned it off, but like I said I didn't know it was actually doing anything so I was just like I'm going to pass out. My browser was lagging and I was just exhausted.

Well any javascript programmer could figure out what I had done. Just a matter of doing it.
Everything is supposed to go back to normal in a few days. Or one day. Depends on how busy Jawad is

After you lose your virginity you don't masturbate as much. But I still do my fair share.
1.) Straight or lesbian porn only, just sex.
2.) I usually download a full video, I can't do the picture or clips thing.
3.) I fantasize mostly about sex or getting head.
3.) Furry porn and hentai porn are not my thing.

It would be nice if you could customize your profile but have a Shuzak tool for customizing it and not a user inputted style sheet.
Then give users the option if they want to see others designs or not.

This is the class file I use at work and for my projects. My friend/co-worker created and I'd like to share it with you all.
database.class.php
[code=php]
<?php
require_once("globals.php");
class database {
var $id;
var $error;
function connect()
{
global $dbhost;
global $dbuser;
global $dbpassword;
global $dbname;
if(mysql_connect($dbhost,$dbuser,$dbpassword) && @mysql_select_db($dbname)) {
return true;
}
else {
die("<textarea>Couldn't connect to the database.</textarea>");
return false;
}
}
function sendquery($query) {
$this->id = FALSE;
$result = mysql_query($query);
if(!$result) {
$this->error = mysql_error();
return FALSE;
}
else {
$this->error = "";
$this->id = mysql_insert_id();
return $result;
}
}
function disconnect() {
mysql_close();
}
}
?>[/code]
globals.php
[code=php]
<?php
$dbhost = "db.ex.com";
$dbuser = "user";
$dbpassword = "pass";
$dbname = "data";
?>[/code]
Here's an example usage...
ex.php
[code=php]
<?php
include("database.class.php");
$database = new database;
$db = $database;
$db->connect();
$sql = "SELECT id,name FROM ex_table";
if($result=$db->sendquery($sql))
{
$numrows=mysql_num_rows($result);
if($numrows) {
for($i=0;$i<$numrows;$i++) {
$id=mysql_result($result,$i,"id");
$name=mysql_result($result,$i,"name");
echo "ID: $id<br />Name: $name";
}
else {
echo "No rows found.";
}
}
else {
echo "Query: $sql<br />Error: $db->error";
}
?>[/code]
The example might have some errors I just threw it together.

request438674.createRequest is not a function

http://pirana0.com/scripts/shuzak-chat-smileys.js
Run this right before it hits the Ajax to replace the smileys with the appropriate img tags.
[code=JavaScript]
function $(a) {
return document.getElementById(a)
}
function Smiley_Replace() {
output = $("input_chat").value
output = output.replace(/\:\)/g,"<img src=\"http://www.shuzak.com/img/emotions/smile.png\" \/>"
output = output.replace(/\:\(/g,"<img src=\"http://www.shuzak.com/img/emotions/sad.png\" \/>"

output = output.replace(/\/g,"<img src=\"http://www.shuzak.com/img/emotions/angry.png\" \/>"

Regex, as you mentioned above, does not necessarily have to be used.

I'm with Scorcho, Damon Albarn all the way.
His work with the Gorillaz was very creative. The story line of all the members of the (virtual) band was the best part of it.
Blur has awesome lyrics along with his new project The Good, The Bad, and The Queen.
