I've finally sat down and read The Watchmen. I'd heard nothing but great things about this graphic novel/comicbook and decided it was time, now that I've also heard Zack Snyder is heading the movie adaptation.
I have to say I was a little disappointed. I found myself skipping a lot of pages. I didn't read much of the The Black Freighter side comic within the story itself. I did find it a bit dry in those points. Other than that though, I fell in love with it. It gave me a new appreciation for the comic book as an art form, something I'd always wanted to do when I was younger, but slowly moved away from. The characters, ending, artwork, and plot were all superb. Manhattan is going to be awesome to see on the big screen.
Have you read it? What were your favorite parts of the comic and why? |
