Description:
To geek or not to geek, that is the question! Not really, the actually question is "what is a geek?" It has been brought to my attention by a certain reliable source who shall remain anonymous that the term or title "geek" now refers to someone of above average intelligence and that because they are above average intelligence, they are excused from snobbery much in the same way that most of the other cliques and higher social statuses are excused from snobbery. Should a publicly-proclaimed or self-proclaimed geek only talk about mathematical equations, physics, biomedicine, neuroscience, etc. thereby assuring those around him or her that they are in fact a geek? Or is it all right for a geeky person to talk about less than educational topics like the rest of society tends to? You decide! Tell us about what you think a geek is, is not, etc. Better yet, tell us what geeky thing you did today!

Your moment of geek-actualization ( 27 replies )
What was the event that started you on the holy path to Geekdom? When I was three (yes, three), my geek grandpa gave me a broken tape recorder - you know, the kind they added to the TRS-80 to store programs. He explained to me that it wouldn't work to play songs, but I could take it apart if I wanted to. He gave me a little pencil box with with two tiny screwdrivers, a phillips and a flathead, plus a miniature pair of pliers. He told me I wasn't allowed to open the...Click Here | By QuantumBeep

Why Intelligent People Tend To Be Unhappy ( 58 replies )
Happiness in intelligent people is the rarest thing I know. - Ernest Hemingway, author and journalist, Nobel laureate (1899-1961) Hemingway, who took his own life in 1961, knew his share of both intelligent people and of unhappiness...Click Here | By Jawad Shuaib

Why are so many geeks atheists? ( 308 replies )
This questions has been bothering me for a while now. If I were to do a statistical analysis of the various religions on Shuzak, it would most likely yield atheism as the most popular belief by a large margin. The second most popular belief is in Buddhism...which is more of a philosophy than a religion. Anyway, I have a bunch of theories myself. But I would like you guys to start: Why, in your opinion, are so many geeks atheists? p.s) Let's ...Click Here | By Jawad Shuaib

What Kind of Genius Are You? ( 8 replies )
"A new theory suggests that creativity comes in two distinct types – quick and dramatic, or careful and quiet. What researchers found is that genius – whether in art or architecture or even business – is not the sole province of 17-year-old Picassos and 22-year-old Andreessens. Instead, it comes in two very different forms, embodied by two very different types of people. “Conceptual innovators,” as Galenson calls them, make bold, dramatic leaps in their disciplines. They do their ...Click Here | By Jawad Shuaib

Geek? Not a Geek? ( 54 replies )
So I was on the phone with a friend of mine earlier this evening and we were discussing the topic of what makes a person a geek (I guess that conversation doesn't make us geeks, it just makes us lame...anyways...) and we happened to noticed that a few people we've become acquainted with have actually become "snobs" about being geeks--talk about whoa! We've noticed that many self-proclaimed geeks are so proud of their status as geeks that they've come to develop their own list of requirements of ...Click Here | By Tara
